Christian Crew Gaming - A faith based gaming community

The Return of the Blog and How You Can Get Involved

Back in June of 2010 we re-launched the CC website with a new look and new goals. One of those goals was to create a blog where we would post various types of articles related to CC, Christianity, gaming, and more. But as time went on we found that the blog wasn’t being used like we had hoped and it was soon decided to shut it down and use just the forums instead. Since that time there has been a few of us who have wanted to bring the blog back, and today I’m excited to announce that we are doing just that.

Why bring the blog back? What is its purpose?

One of the things we have struggled with in the Crew over the years is communication. We hope that the blog will help us establish a centralized location for communication. Today we have various points of communication, such as the ‘News & Announcements’ forum for general announcements, the New CC Members forum for announcing new members, global announcements on the forums, emails, PMs, and in-game adverts to name a few.

While using these other means of communication isn’t necessarily a bad thing (and each should be used), it should be important to us that we have at least one primary location for any type of news or announcement. Not only should it help us by getting in the habit of using that one location, but it should also help you by only needing to look at that one location.

We also want to deliver content with the best experience possible. Our blog is powered by WordPress, which offers a wide array of features and plugins that’s going to allow our content can be dynamic, social, and mobile. We want to drive more traffic to our website and build our content-base and resources in an effort to expand our community beyond the walls of our forums.

What’s next?

This is just the beginning. As we continue to use the site, learn, and grow you can expect more changes to come to both functionality, design, and layout. More importantly, I hope that the website can become a community-oriented project, as well as a central point of the Christian Crew’s ministry and outreach. Its going to be incredibly important that, should we want this to be successful, we get participation. That means you!

How you can get involved:

Writers

Obviously in order for a blog to be successful, you need people to actually write content for that blog. We’ve asked this question in the past, and we’ve either received little to no responses, or we’ve received responses but with little to no follow-through. Nonetheless, I urge you that if you’re interested in helping making this successful, this is will be the best possible way for you to help. If this is something you think you might be interested in, let us know in the comments and more details will follow!

Graphic Designers

In-case you didn’t see it, I posted a thread a while back ago calling all graphics designers. This is almost as equally important as the content itself. We need graphics to help make each post more interesting and to help break text apart. Of course real graphic designers could probably list more reasons than that, but that’s all I’ve got for now. If this sounds more like your style, respond to the thread above.

Participate in comments/discussions

I know its not the forums, but the comments area of each post will still be a great place to hold discussions or provide feedback in regards to the respective blog post. Comments are part of what will help keep the blog alive (and fun). It’s also something EVERY body can do.

Feedback

If you have an idea on how we can further improve the website, or if there’s a particular topic or type of article you’d like to see, don’t hesitate to speak up. And if nothing else, just tell us what you think. We’d love to hear what you’ve got to say.
