Good afternoon CC! It is day 3 of our Advent study. Today we learned about Christmas lights. As the story goes Martin Luther was walking in the forest and found a pine tree. He brought it home for the holidays and placed candles on them so he can see it during the night. This got me thinking about a post that a friend posted. That the Christmas tree can symbolize our path with Christ. It is wide at the base and tapers narrower to the star on top. It says in Mathew 7:14 “narrow the road that leads to life”. Our goal is to reach the star (Eternal life with Christ). Here the lights will symbolize God’s Word. When we first begin our journey there are many things we don’t know and our path is wide. As we read God’s word it will illuminate our path towards the narrow road that will lead us to Christ.
Thought for the day: What things in your life can also symbolize lights on your journey to Eternal Life? Is it your kids? Spouse? Church Family? Small group?
